Joseph F. DeBelder

Joseph F. DeBelder’s practice focuses on employment law, civil rights and commercial litigation.
Prior to joining Henrichsen Siegel, Mr. DeBelder was an assistant public defender in Jacksonville, Florida assigned to the Homicide Division. In that capacity, Mr. DeBelder was representing clients charged with First and Second Degree Murder. Mr. DeBelder was also a supervisor of the Special Defense Unit, which represented clients accused of the most serious non-homicide charges. Prior to joining the Homicide Division, Mr. DeBelder was a Felony Division chief and also the division chief of the Repeat Offender Court division. Mr. DeBelder has extensive trial experience and has successfully tried numerous serious felony cases.
Mr. DeBelder has been recognized for his work with several awards, including a scholarship from the Florida Bar to attend a program for trial advocacy in Oxford, England. In 2004, Mr. DeBelder was named Employee of the Year by the Office of the Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. For the past three years, Mr. DeBelder has been an instructor at the trial training program in Gainesville, Florida. Mr. DeBelder also worked as an associate attorney in a private law firm that specialized in appellate practice, gaining experience in complex federal appeals.
Mr. DeBelder received his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law in 1999. He received his B.A. in History and Political Science, magna cum laude, from Florida State University.
